Our kickoff event at Rails End Beer Company is tonight, and we couldn't be more excited to get this October rolling. We have several awesome events throughout the month and into the rest of 2016. Trust me, they're going to be awesome! Last year, during our kickoff event at Ratio hosted by the amazing Basics Team, someone asked us what our fundraising goal was for Drink for Pink in 2015. It was our first official year in business, and we each had a slightly different goal in mind. I shouted $10,000. Matt upped it to $25,000. Others mentioned slightly lower or higher. We ended up just shy of $5,000 for the year. Not bad for our first year! This year, we're all on the same page. We have a firm target in mind that we want to hit throughout the rest of the year.
Our Fundraising Goal for 2016
In 2016, we want to raise a minimum of $10,000 to donate directly to local cancer research. Compared to other big nonprofits like Susan G. Komen, it's a drop in the bucket, but for Drink for Pink, it would represent over double what we raised last year. Our eventual goal is to raise between $25,000-$50,000 in a given year to fund our own seed grant Raising $10,000 would represent a huge step in the right direction. Alongside our fundraising goal, we're going to continue to push forward on other missions that aren't numbers-focused. First, we're continuing to put the spotlight on the researchers actually doing the work in the lab. These individuals are the ones making the real difference in the battle against cancer. Second, we're going to continue our focus on transparency. It's a main reason we started Drink for Pink in the first place. We believe that donors should have an idea of where their money is going and what it's benefiting when they donate.
How You Can Help
Raising $10,000 this year isn't going to be easy, but we're confident we can hit the mark. With that number in mind, here are some ways you can help:
Sign-up for our newsletter. It goes out every Thursday and includes details about what we're up. In October, we'll include an update on exactly how much we've raised thus far.
Attend our events. We're going to be as far south as Aurora and as far north as Broomfield this year. Find an event that works for you and come support the cause! You can also find all of our events on Facebook.
Make a donation online. The checkout process is 100% secure through PayPal. You'll get a personal appreciation email from our team. We assure you that your money will go to local cancer research.
Rep Drink for Pink swag. We have shirts in! Stay tuned for the announcement soon. We'll be selling the shirts through the site for $25. In the meantime, you can snag one at any event.
As of right now, we're at a net of $255.87 meaning we have $9,744.13 until we hit our fundraising goal. We will hit $10,000 this year with your help. See you out there!
