This is an ongoing series of mini blogs to highlight the breweries like Ratio Beerworks partnering with Drink for Pink.
This week we are highlighting Ratio Beerworks, a fantastic local brewery and host to our kickoff and closing events in 2015. This year we were honored to have them as part of our October lineup; in addition we are part of their 12 days of Giving in December with an event on the 22nd. We spoke with Tristan Chan, their Marketing Manager, to learn more about Ratio!
What’s the origin of Ratio Beerworks?
Tristan: Ratio Beerworks, was born from our co-founders’ deep roots in the punk rock music scene. Jason, Zach and Scott sought to translate the industry’s sense of community, DIY spirit, and strong musical influences within the taproom experience.
What’s your favorite beer and why?
Tristan: Genius Wizard Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout is my all-time favorite beer. And coincidentally enough, it was released Saturday, December 10. However, from a day-to-day standpoint both our Domestica American Standard Ale and Rented World Session IPA are such great easy drinking, super sessionable options.
If you could make any beer, what would you call it and what would it taste like?
Tristan: With all Ratio beers we strive to take a traditional style and offer a modern twist. I’d like to try to replicate a Samoa Cookie in beer without using any artificial flavoring. We’re talking real toasted coconuts, bourbon barrel-aged for the caramel notes and cacao nibs.
Three words that describe your brewery
Tristan: Innovation, Music, Community
What’s next for your brewery?
Tristan: Right now we’re focused on measured growth. We just added some 60 barrel fermenters and brite tanks so we’ve been able to add more beers to our rotation and get more beer out to bars and restaurants. We’ll focus on continuing to grow that part of the business first before any other big distribution plans. That said we’re excited to roll out some great new beers in the new year.
You have one more chance in 2016 to see us at Ratio Beerworks! We’ll be there on Thursday, 12/22 from 5-8pm!
